BOARD MEMBER & CEO

Ellen Bower is a seasoned healthcare executive and operator known for her extensive experience in business expansion and operations management. Prior to joining Parallel, Ellen served as the CEO of Ever/Body, a cosmetic dermatology business with locations throughout the NorthEast, where she successfully enhanced the business by focusing on operational efficiencies and organic growth. Prior to Ever/Body, Ellen served as the COO at Women’s Care, a multi-site national women’s health platform. Ellen is known for her strategic acumen, leadership development, and passion for healthcare. Prior to Women’s Care, Ellen served in various multi-site healthcare operational leadership roles overseeing a multitude of specialty’s and central services including experience leading health information, compliance, health privacy functions. Ellen holds a Bachelor degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and a Master Degree in Management, Strategy, and Leadership from the Eli Broad College of Business as Michigan State University. She resides in Tampa, Florida with her husband and two children. When she isn’t working she can be found volunteering for her various organizations, at the ballpark watching her son play or reading a good book.

KELLY McCRANN

Kelly McCrann has over 35 years of experience leading healthcare companies across a broad range of sectors.

Mr. McCrann serves as a member for several health care entities. He serves on the Board of Directors of EyeCare Partners, from which he retired as Chief Executive Officer in 2021. Prior to creating EyeCare Partners and selling it to Partners Group for $2.2 billion in 2020, Mr. McCrann served as the CEO of AdvoServ (a leader in serving individuals with severe intellectual and developmental disabilities), CEO of Crescent Healthcare (a national specialty home infusion therapy provider), and Senior Vice President of DaVita, responsible for the operating group performing home hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and nocturnal dialysis. Previously, Mr. McCrann served as CEO or Division President of PacifiCare, Coram Healthcare, Xcorporeal, Inc., and Professional Dental Associates. He also served as an Operating Partner with Bessemer Venture Partners. Mr. McCrann began his career with McKinsey & Company.

Mr. McCrann graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with degrees in Economics and Political Science and earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Harvard University.

Kelly McCrann is a board member at Parallel ENT & Allergy

Kelly McCrann has over 35 years of experience leading healthcare companies across a broad range of sectors.

Mr. McCrann serves as a member for several health care entities. He serves on the Board of Directors of EyeCare Partners, from which he retired as Chief Executive Officer in 2021. NEIL HOCKSTEIN, MD

Board Member & Chief Medical Officer

Board-certified Otolaryngologist and Head and Neck Surgeon Neil Hockstein, MD, has been dedicated to improving clinical outcomes for patients and expanding access to care for patients for over 20 years.

Dr. Hockstein was recently appointed as the Chair of the Delaware Health Commission, which promotes high-quality, cost-effective, and accessible healthcare for all Delaware residents. The Commission works with healthcare providers, policymakers, and community stakeholders to improve health outcomes and address disparities in care.

Dr. Hockstein is a founder and the Chief Medical Officer of Parallel ENT & Allergy. Parallel delivers comprehensive non-clinical practice management services to practices across the country so physicians can focus more on caring for their patients. He is a partner at ENT & Allergy of Delaware, a leader in quality ENT, allergy, and audiology care in the Mid-Atlantic region. He is the Medical Director of Surgical Subspecialty Care for the ChristianaCare Health System in Newark, Delaware. He is also the Director of Head and Neck Multidisciplinary Care for the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center at ChristianaCare. He is Clinical Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology at Sidney Kimmel Medical College, Thomas Jefferson University, and holds an adjunct faculty appointment at the Wistar Institute in Philadelphia, PA.

Dr. Hockstein previously served as a panelist before the U.S. Surgeon General regarding physician burnout. He also served as a panelist before the Delaware Advisory Committee to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights on The Covid-19 Impact on People of Color in Delaware and he chaired the Eradicate the Virus task force for New Castle County, DE. He is also a founding board member of the Delaware State University Global Institute for Equity, Inclusion, and Civil Rights and received the Faith Partner Award from DSU in 2021.

A Delaware native, Dr. Hockstein has earned Top Doctor recognition for 16 consecutive years from Delaware Today Magazine and seven consecutive years from Philadelphia Magazine. He has also been recognized nationally as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor for the last 10 years and has published over 40 articles in peer-reviewed medical journals and several book chapters.

Dr. Hockstein received his undergraduate degree from Johns Hopkins University and graduated with honors from Jefferson Medical College. He completed his residency at the University of Pennsylvania, where he served as chief resident.

Dr. Neil Hockstein is a board member at Parallel ENT & Allergy

As a board-certified Otolaryngologist- Head and Neck Surgeon at ENT & Allergy of Delaware, Dr. Hockstein cares for patients with diseases of the ears, nose, and throat with particular focus on surgery of the head and neck and the treatment of nasal and sinus disorders.

Dr. Hockstein received his undergraduate degree from Johns Hopkins University and went on to graduate with honors from Jefferson Medical College where he was also elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and the Hobart Amory Hare Medical Society. He then completed residency at the University of Pennsylvania where he served as chief resident. Dr. Hockstein is a previous winner of the residency research prize and the Philadelphia College of Physicians Research Prize. He has published over 35 articles in peer-reviewed medical journals and numerous book chapters and has lectured across the country on the treatment of sinus disease and head and neck cancer.

WILL SHEPPARD, MD

Will Sheppard is the Chief Practice Officer at Parallel ENT & Allergy. Dr. Sheppard is a board-certified Otolaryngologist/ Head and Neck Surgeon at ENT & Allergy of Delaware, and he is a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy. He has been practicing in Wilmington, DE since 2002. Under his leadership and through the support of Parallel, ENT & Allergy of Delaware was named the #1 Physician Practice in Delaware by Castle Connolly with the most Top Doctors and Top Doctors in Surgical Care on the practice roster.

Originally from South Carolina, he graduated magna cum laude from Clemson University in 1993. He then graduated with honors from the Medical University of South Carolina in 1997. While at MUSC, he was awarded membership into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society, served as President of the Honor Council, and was elected class President during his 3rd and 4th years. In 2002, Dr. Sheppard completed his residency at SUNY- Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York. There, he was named Surgical Intern of the Year, served as Chief Resident and published research on Meniere’s disease.

Dr. Sheppard provides lectures on a range of ENT topics to practicing physicians, residents, medical students, and the public. He feels fortunate to practice in this medical community and be part of Parallel and ENT and Allergy of Delaware.

Meet Dr. Will Sheppard, MD, a board member at Parallel ENT & Allergy

Dr. Sheppard is a board-certified Otolaryngologist/ Head and Neck Surgeon at ENT & Allergy of Delaware, and he is a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy.
